Boettcher Scholarships

For more than 60 years, the Boettcher Scholarships have provided financial support to outstanding Colorado students to entice them to pursue a higher education in the state of Colorado. These scholarships are highly competitive are are awarded based solely on academic merit. The Boettcher Scholarship recipient receives a full-ride scholarship to any college or university that is located in Colorado. In addition to providing financial support, these scholarships also provide additional opportunities for recipients. For example, internship experiences, grant opportunities, and connections to alumni with similar interests are all perks that recipients receive in an effort to advance their career.

Students often wonder which universities and colleges are eligible for funding under the Boettcher Scholarship program. Students who intend to enroll at any of these accredited Colorado institutions are eligible to receive Boettcher funding: Colorado Student University, University of Denver, Adams State University, Johnson and Wales University, Colorado Christian University, Fort Lewis College, Colorado College, Colorado State University at Pueblo, Colorado School of Mines, University of Colorado at Boulder, Western Colorado University, University of Northern Colorado, University of Colorado at Denver, Colorado Mesa University, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Metropolitan State University of Denver, or Regis University. The scholarship will cover compete remission of tuition and student fees at any of these institutions.

In addition to providing complete tuition remission, recipients also receive additional support. Each recipient receives a yearly living stipend that can be used to defray the cost of room and board. Currently, the living stipend is set at $2,800 per academic year. Each recipient receives additional funding for purchasing textbooks, but the exact amount varies by college. Students can also apply for additional funding through the Educational Enrichment Grants, which can provide an additional $3,000 for a special educational project, such as a research project or internship. Grants for scholarships studying abroad are also available. Annual events and campus enrichment opportunities are also open to Boettcher recipients.

In order to apply for this award, all applicants are required to be a U.S. resident or citizen. However, in some cases, students who meet DACA requirements will also be considered. In addition, students are only eligible if they have lived in Colorado for their last two years of high school. In order to apply, students must be graduating high school. The foundation receives many outstanding applications and it is unable to support all requests. As such, it has outlined their selection criteria for making funding decisions.

Students are selected for the Boettcher Foundation Scholarship based on their achievements in four main categories. The first is the applicant’s community and school involvement. Secondly, the committee takes into consideration the student’s previous academic achievements. Students are also judged based of leadership ability and outstanding character.
