Florida Atlantic University Scholarships

Students who are planning to attend Florida Atlantic University, or FAU, typically are concerned with how to fund the cost of their education. One of the best ways to decrease the cost of an education is to apply for scholarships. A great starting place is to fill out the FAFSA application as soon as it becomes available, since this form will tell you whether you have qualified for any federal or state funding. Secondly, you will want to be certain that you explore scholarships that are offered through FAU. Some of these awards are open exclusively to new students while others are open to returning students. Check out the list below for some of the best FAU scholarships:

FAU Presidential Scholarship: This scholarship is one of the most prestigious awards that is used to recruit incoming freshmen students. The total amount of the scholarship is $24,000, which the student receives in increments of $6,000 over four years. This scholarship is awarded solely on academic merit. No separate application is needed to apply for this, since all applicants are considered. Students must submit their admission’s application to FAU prior to January 15th in order to receive the most consideration for this scholarship. Students must be enrolled full-time and maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average in order to receive the renewal amounts in subsequent years. Additional information about this scholarship, and other merit scholarships, can be found here.

Fanjul Academic and Community Excellent Award: If you are looking for an FAU scholarship that is geared towards students who have been active in their communities, then this may be the one you have been looking for. This scholarship provides up to $10,000 (which is divided into $2,500 per year, for four years) for a student who has shown leadership and a strong academic record. Only students from Palm Beach, who attend one of three different high schools there, will be considered for this scholarship. Students must be entering their first year at FAU. In order to be considered, students must have an ACT score of at least 21 or an SAT score of at least 1450. Additionally, students are required to hold at least a 3.0 grade point average.

Alumni Legacy Scholarship: If your parent or grandparent has graduated from FAU, then you might be considered for this scholarship. In fact, your family member only had to obtain 32 credit hours in order for you to apply, so you can apply even if they just attended but did not graduate. Students must hold at least a 3.0 grade point average. The highest priority for this award is given to students who have a high level of financial need. As such, applicants must submit a FAFSA application in order to be considered. This scholarship is open to continuing undergraduates (second year or above) and graduate students. The application deadline for the Alumni Legacy Scholarship is May 1st. Additional information about this scholarship, as well as many other FAU scholarships, can be found here.
