Ford Scholarships

While Ford Motor Company is likely best known for forging the way of mass development of motor vehicles, it is also known for providing scholarships through its philanthropic corporation. These scholarships were created to assist eligible college students with the cost of textbooks, tuition, student fees, and other related educational expenses. Ford Driving Dreams Scholarship: This scholarship was created to reward students who graduate high school on time as well as to encourage students to enroll in college in a timely manner. Through this scholarship, students compete for the scholarships based on a topic called “What Drives your Dream.” In order to be eligible for this award, students must be in their last year of high school, be a high school senior in one of the eligible Texas school districts, have strong writing skills, be engaged in community service, and plan to enroll in an accredited college or university directly after graduation from high school. Although there are no restrictions on the major that the scholarship will fund, students who are planning to major in a STEM field will be given the highest priority. Ford Blue Oval Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded exclusively to students who hail from Southeast Michigan. A total of 16 different scholarships are available and range in value from $250 to $1,000. More specifically, there are 8 scholarships worth $250 each that are geared towards helping students afford textbooks and related school materials. An additional 8 scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,000 in order to help students defray the cost of tuition. Only students who graduate from one of the following high schools are eligible to be considered for this award: Pontiac HS, Central Collegiate Academy, Ypsilanti Community HS, Cody High School, Western HS, Harper Woods HS, Southeastern HS, Mt. Ford Blue Scholars Nationwide Scholarship: This scholarship is offered through a partnership with the Hispanic College Fund. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, students are required to demonstrate financial need, Hispanic descent, and show that they are a citizen or resident of the United States. Additionally, students must plan to enroll on a full-time basis for an undergraduate degree or MBA program. Only students who have a 3.0 grade point average will be considered for this scholarship. These awards are determined based on a mixture on the applicant’s demonstrated level of financial need and their academic achievements.
