KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program

Kentucky Fried Chicken offers several different scholarship programs to help students afford a college education. Some of these awards are only open to current employees. Thus far, the company has helped over 2,500 students with financing an education. Below are the various types of awards that students may want to consider applying for:

Kentucky Fried Chicken Scholarship

KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program: This award provides students with scholarships that range from $5,000 to $20,000. The money may be used for a variety of educational costs, such as tuition, textbooks, student fees, and room and board. In order to be eligible to apply for the award, students must be high school seniors who have at least a 2.75 grade point average. The student must plan to enroll in a four-year public college and pursue their first bachelor’s degree. Only citizens or permanent residents of the United States are eligible to apply for the award. It is imperative that students demonstrate financial need, since this is a need-based scholarship. Students must also attend a public institution in the same state where they reside (meaning that they qualify for in state tuition). Although the program continues to support previous winners, this program is not accepting new applications at this time.

REACH KFC Educational Grant Program

REACH KFC Educational Grant Program: This award was created to help current KFC employees afford a higher education. It is open to any KFC employee who is an hourly employee or a shift manager. The award helps students attend either a 2-year or 4-year institution. The recipient receives an award worth $2,000 or $2,500 to help them fund their studies. The grant may be used at any accredited institution; even students who attend a trade or vocational school are eligible. The application is competitive and only employees who have been employed for at least six months may apply.

There are no age requirements and as such, students who are returning to school after a long break in their education can be funded. Students must hold at least a 2.0 grade point average and work at least 15 hours per week. Additionally, only employees at the restaurants located in the United States are eligible to be considered for funding. Students must plan to enroll for school in the fall or currently be enrolled. The application is available online and applications must be submitted prior to March 17, 2016. Applicants can obtain more information by logging into the team KFC online portal. Students who have already received one award at the $2,000 level may apply for the $2,500 Reach Rising Stars Grant provided that they have maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average. Students must also compete at least 12 credits throughout the academic year in order to receive the award.
