Students who are interested in attending Middle Tennessee State University typically wonder how to best afford the cost of attending the school. Students might not realize that there are indeed a variety of different scholarship opportunities that are available to them. One of the best ways to identify scholarships that you might qualify for is the complete the FAFSA application as soon as possible. This application will tell you whether you are eligible for any federal or state aid. A second place to look is through MTSU itself, as the school offers scholarships to many different groups of students, including incoming freshmen, nontraditional students, and returning students. The Buchanan Fellowship:These scholarshipsare available to students who plan to enroll in the Honors College. It is only available to incoming freshmen. The applicant must intend to start their studies in either summer or fall semester, so students who wish to start their studies in spring will not be eligible for this award. In order to apply for this scholarship, students should submit an undergraduate admission’s application to MTSU by the deadline. In addition, a Buchanan application form must be submitted to the Honors College prior to the December 1st deadline. Only students who have scored at least a 29 on the ACT and who have a grade point average of at least a 3.5 will be considered for this scholarship, although most winners exceed these qualifications. Lastly, students are required to submit their high school transcript in order to complete the application process.
Students who are chosen to receive this scholarship receive a number of benefits, including a book stipend, the opportunity to attend seminars, top consideration if they decide to study abroad, and a complete tuition remission scholarship for up to 16 credits per semester. MTSU Guaranteed Transfer Promise Scholarship: Students who are transferring to MTSU are eligible to apply for this $3,000 scholarship, which can be renewed one time. Only students who start in the summer or fall semester will be considered. In order to apply, applicants must submit an application to MTSU by Feb. 15th. Furthermore, they must submit both high school and college transcripts. Only students who are residents or citizens of the United States can apply. Students should have a grade point average of at least a 3.0 and at least 45 credit hours (but not more than 105 credit hours) from another college.
