The Dr. Abdulmunium A. Shakir Scholarship is one that is devoted to helping Muslim students fund their upper level education. Students that wish to apply for this award must be a Muslim and must also be academically inclined, helping to establish that the monies will be helpful in their upper level collegiate activities. The Dr. Abdulmunium A. Shakir foundation gives away several of these Muslim scholarships each year to students that have proven leadership in their community, at least a 3.0 GPA, and complete a writing portion. Plainfield Muslim Women for Better Society Scholarship

Muslim scholarships can be further parsed down to help an even more specified group of individuals. This is the case with the Plainfield Women for Better Society Scholarship. This scholarship is given to a Muslim woman who is a senior at Plainfield High School. Students may also apply if they are at Indianapolis High School, too. Each of the winners will be awarded five-hundred dollars if they meet all of the criteria for the award. These include establishing their American citizenship or residency and also having completed a minimum of twenty hours. All women applying must also demonstrate academic success by having at least a 3.5 grade point average in order to apply. Dr. Abdus Saleem Scholarship

Like the Dr. Abdulmunium A. Shakir Scholarship, the Dr. Abdus Saleem Scholarship is named in honor of a professionally successful Muslim role model and offers students the chance to earn money for college. This scholarship is given to students that have at least a 3.5 GPA and who are leaders in their community as well. Students must write an essay that explains the challenges faced by Muslims in America and how they have worked to overcome these obstacles when faced with them. It is also required that applicants be American citizens and provide two letters of reference, among other criteria.
