This fall, many Oklahoma students are preparing to enter college for the first time or are returning to college. Many of these students are concerned about the cost of an education. What they may not know, is that OK has a number of college scholarships to help make tuition more affordable for these students. Some of these awards are open solely to residents of OK while other awards are open to students from other states who attend a college or university in OK. Check out the list below for some ideas of OK scholarships:
Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant

The scholarship is open to both part-time and full-time students who enroll in an eligible institution. Students must take at least six credit hours in order to be eligible for funding. In order to be considered for this award, the applicant is required to complete a FAFSA application. The application deadline changes annually. The program recommends applying as early as possible. Students who are chosen for the awards will be notified by their college or university. Every university is permitted to nominate one potential recipient each year for this one-time scholarship. Oklahoma Future Teachers Scholarship Program
This scholarship provides awards worth $1,500 to aspiring teachers. In order to be eligible to apply for the scholarship, students must hold at least a 2.5 grade point average, be a resident of OK, and be enrolled in a college or university. Students may attend college on a part-time or full-time basis, but priority funding is reserved for students attending on a full-time basis. Students must be nominated from their college or university. When making selections of which students to nominate, a number of factors (i.e., high grade point average from high school, exam scores from SAT or ACT, and acceptance to an OK college or university) are taken into account. In exchange for receiving the funding, recipients sign an agreement that indicates they will teach in a high need area in the OK public school system for at least three years after they graduate from college. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years.
