Rutgers Scholarships

With the increasing cost of college, some institutions have created awards that are open exclusively to students who that institution. One such college is Rutgers University. In order to assist students who attend Rutgers afford a college education, the university offers a wide variety of scholarships to assist new and incoming students. Some of these awards are based on academic merit while others are based on other indicators. If you wish to be considered for one of these Rutgers Scholarships, you should fill out a FAFSA application as soon as possible. FIRST Scholarship: This scholarship provides $5,000 per year for up to four years total to a high school senior. In order to be considered, the applicant must have taken part in one of the FIRST Robotics Competition teams or FIRST Tech Challenge team prior to attending Rutgers. In addition, the applicant must have been accepted to RU. Only students who are planning to attend Rutgers on a full time basis will be considered for this scholarship. In addition, they will have to obtain a letter of recommendation from the adult who supervised their FIRST project.

RU September 11th Memorial Scholarship: In an effort to remember the brave men and women who perished during the September 11th attacks, Rutgers University created this scholarship. In order to be eligible, the applicant must be a dependent of a New Jersey resident who died on September 11th as a result of the attacks. Only students who are accepted at the undergraduate level and who are studying for their first college degree will be considered for this scholarship. Continuing Student Scholarships: Students are have completed their first year at Rutgers and who are seeking additional funding may be interested in the Scholarships for Continuing SAS Students. Only students who are studying in the School of Arts and Sciences are eligible for these awards. These awards are highly competitive and students must be invited to apply for them. The majority of the awards provide students with $1,000 to help defray the cost of their education. In order to be eligible to apply, students must hold a 3.7 grade point average, plan to be enrolled in the School of Arts and Sciences in the Fall, and currently be enrolled in the School of Arts and Sciences. In addition to scholastic excellence, the committee seeks to reward students who have written strong essays and who have demonstrated a community service within Rutgers or the surrounding community.
