The uses of pharmaceutical studies scholarships are to help in financing future world leaders in pharmacy research and education. The Top Scholarships for Pharmacy Students

CBCF General Mills Health Scholarship

Congressional Black Caucus Foundation scholarship

This $2,500 scholarship is sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, but applicants do not have to be African Americans. You must reside or attend school in a district that is represented by a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. In addition, you should have a GPA of 2.75 or better and be accepted or enrolled into an undergraduate degree program on a full-time basis. Health Resources and Services Administration-Bureau of Health Professions Scholarships for Pharmacy Students

Health Resources and Services Administration scholarship

These scholarships award as much as $15,000 to full-time students from disadvantaged backgrounds who study in a medical field like pharmaceutical studies, and who experience financial needs for tuition.

To qualify, you must also be a citizen of the US, or a permanent resident. There are additional criteria established by each school.

Edith M. Allen Scholarships

You may qualify for one of these $1,000 United Methodist Church scholarships for pharmacy students if you are an active member of that church for three years or more. You must major in health fields like pharmaceutical studies, medicine, social work or education.

You can be working towards an undergrad or graduate degree, and you need to have a B+ average or better in your college schooling. You can find more information on their official website.


Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Scholarship Program

The Maryland Higher Education Commission offers this scholarship, which is valued as high as $19,000.  You must be planning to enroll, or already be enrolled in a postsecondary school in Maryland. Your parent(s) must live in Maryland, as well.

The eligible majors must lead to a job where you will be addressing current regional or state needs, including public service, occupational therapy, physical therapy, pharmaceutical studies, nursing, teaching, human services or child care. This is how you repay your opportunity of receiving one of these scholarships for pharmacy students.

You must agree to seek employment in your chosen field within one year after you graduate. In addition, you must remain in the field for as many years as you received scholarship monies for in college. The website has more pertinent information.


National Community Pharmacists Association Foundation Scholarships

National Community Pharmacists Association scholarship

Several scholarships are funded by the NCPA Foundation. The goal is supporting students who show high academic achievement and leadership qualities. You must be a student member of NCPA to become eligible.

This scholarship is awarded based on these priorities:

  • Academic Achievement – Success in scholastic endeavors is a must for consideration and is measured by the use of college transcripts.
  • Leadership Qualities – You will be evaluated by the scholarship committee of the NCPA Foundation to assess your leadership qualities. In addition you should demonstrate an interest in pharmacy schooling and be involved in extracurricular activities. All of these individual qualities will be closely measured with the use of supporting documents that you are required to submit.

You may be eligible for these scholarships for pharmacy students if you are a pharmacy student and an NCPA member student. You may only apply for one NCPA scholarship in each school year. You must be enrolled in a US college or school of pharmaceutical studies that is accredited and attend school full-time. In addition, each student may only win this award once.

If one of your parents is a Foundation office for the NCPA, or on the executive committee, you will not be eligible for this program.

These scholarships for pharmacy students will be awarded individually and cannot be transferred between students. If you win, you will receive a check payable to your school from the Foundation. This occurs at the NCPA convention, held annually. You must attend the convention in order to receive the award. A travel stipend of $300 or less is provided, as is a registration to the conference.

You are allowed to transfer from one college or school of pharmacy to another, as long as they are both accredited. You must be meeting the original school’s academic standards before you transfer.

American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education Scholarships

The AFPE funds a number of scholarships.


Undergraduate Research Scholarships for Pharmacy Students

This program is designed to increase the total number of qualified students who are undertaking a research program mentored by faculty. These students then are to enroll in an administrative, basic or clinical pharmaceutical science Ph.D. program.

Most of the funds awarded consist of stipends for academic research projects. Preference is given to students who require relevant experience in the field of research, to determine whether they wish to pursue their pharmaceutical sciences Ph.D.

You must be enrolled to qualify, having completed a year of your degree program. The faculty members who work with students nominate their students for these scholarships. More information is available at their website during the application season.


American Pharmacists Scholarship Program

These scholarships for pharmacy students are supportive of students who are investing time in the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists chapter at their college, to help in shaping the profession.

In order to qualify, you should have an exemplary academic performance record, be involved in community and school activities and have the potential to be a leader in the pharmaceutical profession. Their scholarship website provides more information.


RESPy Award

RESPy Award scholarship

This award is sponsored by the Pharmacy Times and its purpose is to honor outstanding students in pharmacy who have great potential to become a community pharmacist and who display behavior that is considered exemplary.

In order to be qualified, you must have volunteered in public activities and demonstrate your effort in advancing pharmacy studies. You cannot apply for these scholarships for pharmacy students – the dean of your school of pharmacy will nominate worthy candidates. If you win, you will receive a summer internship and a cash award.
