California is a large and populated state with many great institutions of higher learning. WSCGA Foundation Scholarship
When it comes to sports, there are many specific scholarships developed for athletes of a particular type. The WSCGA Foundation developed a scholarship for those that female athletes that are members of a team in the sport of golf. Why is this on the list of scholarships in California? Because in order to receive the WSCGA Foundation Scholarship, an individual must play golf but also live in the Southern California region. Not only that, but any one applying for this scholarship must have completed high school by the first of September of the application year and must be enrolled as a full-time first year student at an accredited University. The scholarship deadline is May 15 and all application materials must be submitted by this time in order to be considered. As noted, sometimes the scholarships in California require more than just being a resident of the state. The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) offers a niche scholarship that is very lucrative for the right individual. The ACWA offers students the opportunity to receive one of two $3,500 scholarships each year. But, in order for students to quality, they must be in a water resources-related major or field. In order to be eligible, the ACWA scholarship requires that all applicants attend a four-year, publically funded institution of higher learning that is located in California. Jewish Family & Children Services
In California, there is an organization known as the Jewish Family & Children Services agency that is focused on helping those of Jewish heritage to fulfill their life goals. This group has several opportunities for help, among them being ensuring that they provide scholarships in California for California residents. To be eligible for one of their many awards or grants, students must be from San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin, and Sonoma Counties. They must also be of Jewish descent.
